Thailand tourism authority for northeast area, Sunday (25 February 2007) in Bangkok, was smart enough to utilize this situation. “We want to encourage these foreigner-husbands, which is quite a lot, to tour northeast Thailand.” Said Somporn Chaloothong, a tourism officer in Khon Kaen. 15 foreigner-husbands were then selected to enjoy the scenery, menu and the culture along the journey that will take place from 3-4th March 2007. They only need to pay about USD 30,= Very cheap indeed, however they should become Thailand tourism ambassadors in the country they come from. These foreigner-husbands agreed. They will be happy to tell about the culture, scenery, and hospitality of northeast Thailand. This idea of Thailand authority is quite original. Perhaps due to having wonderful wives, those foreigner-husbands are eager to be tourism ambassadors the way they were eager to wed their lovely wives. (Reuters)
