BANGKOK
26 Desember 2004, the world was horrified by the damages Tsunami caused. The world got together to give aids to those countries badly affected, like Indonesia and Thailand. There was news that most aids coming from worldwide did not reach the victims in Indonesia. The victims were not well taken care of. Things were different in Thailand. Even the spirits of the dead were put at ease. According to news agency Agence France Presse, 20 February 2007, 2 years after Tsunami, the spirit experts had been busy purifying the wondering spirits of the dead whose lives were taken away by force. The ritual giving respect to the dead was performed regularly. The latest issue was the making of a statue by an American artist of French descendant, Louise Bourgeois (96). The statue was placed at Nopparat beach, Krabi province, with background Phi Phi islands, which got heavily damaged by Tsunami. 700 tourists died there. One part of the statue depicted a kid’s hand waving for help. Another part of the statue depicted the hands of a man and a woman. “Those hands are like saying ‘I won’t let go. Don’t let me drift away. Hold me tight forever.’.” Said Bourgeois. There were 5400 victims of Tsunami in Thailand.
