Crime Out Of Love

SYDNEY

A husband and wife, sentenced to 5 year imprisonment in year 2001 for murdering their blind and mentally retarded child, was freed by Sydney court order on Wednesday, 4 April 2007. A judge said that they did the crime out of love. The prosecutor sued Raymond Sutton (63) and his wife, Margaret Sutton (60). They were found guilty in 2001 by New South Wales high court of murdering their son Matthew (28). At that time, judge Graham Barr sentenced them to 5 year imprisonment provided that they were well behaved. Should they misbehave within that 5 year, they both would then be imprisoned for 25 years. It was not mentioned how the son was murdered. The parents, however, got deeply depressed and stressed having done what they did. The son, who was blind by birth and loved music, "died" one day before undergoing brain surgery to recover his hearing and smelling senses. "With all our love to Matt, we borrowed his courage and spirit to free him from all misery and diseases." Said Margaret Sutton. In court Raymond Sutton said that their son was given a sleeping pill before "being freed from the world". Their statements showed that they were very depressed indeed.
